Terms & Conditions

1.         The theme of the competition is “Generations Together”. The promoter of the competition is Age Action Ireland Limited, 30/31 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2. Registered Charity No. CHY 10583.

2.         The written consent of the subject of the photograph will be required with the understanding that photos may be used in Age Action promotional and publicity material and may also be selected for a photography exhibition, which will tour the country and we will be displayed during Positive Ageing Week.

3.         The competition is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.  There is no age restriction to enter this competition but entrants under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian.

4.         Entries should be the original work of the entrant and should not have been previously exhibited or published. This competition is open to all levels of photographers.

5.         Entries must be submitted in hard copy or electronically:
5.1       Hard copy: in black and white or colour, size (7x5) to (10x8) on photographic paper only. Please specify on your application form the type of camera on which your photo was taken. If your photo was taken on a film camera, negatives must be retained for at least 6 months.
Entries must NOT be mounted but should be sent in a hard backed envelope.
5.2       Electronic copy:  all entries must be saved at a minimum of 225 dpi, files should be approximately        3 MB in size and should be submitted in jpeg or tiff format.

6.         The following information must accompany each individual entry: completed application form, completed portrait consent form and in the case of entrants under the age of 18, completed parent consent form. Each participant may submit as many photos and they wish (extra forms can be downloaded from www.ageaction.ie).

7.         Age Action Ireland will have to right to use any photographs submitted to this competition for promotional purposes.

8.         Entrants will also be deemed to have consented to the short listed photographs being reproduced for print, in aid of Age Action.  No fee will be payable for this use.  Winners agree to take part in post-competition publicity or promotional activities.

9.         Negatives or electronic files must be retained by the entrant for at least six months, and may be required for possible future use by Age Action.

10.       No entries can be returned and proof of posting is not proof of receipt.  The organisers accept no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delays in the post.

11.       The decision of the judging panel is final.

12.       Prizes in the form of accommodation in The Clarence Hotel must be used within 6 months (May 2010 to October 2010) and are subject to availability. Prizes in the form of shopping vouchers for Arnotts Department Store must be used within 1 year (May 2010 to April 2011). Prizes are transferable and there is no cash alternative.

13.       Age Action and ESB employees and their immediate families are not permitted to enter.

14.       By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

15.       By entering this competition these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

Entries must reach Age Action by Friday 7 May 2010.
